Alleged double murderer Beau Lamarre-Condon is offering media outlets interviews and information about his case from behind bars, in exchange for cash.
Lamarre-Condon has in recent weeks used an intermediary in an attempt to negotiate deals as he sits on remand, including offering an exclusive interview with his mother during which he would be part of the discussion via a video call.
The sacked NSW Police officer has been behind bars for more than 16 months accused of the double murder of ex-boyfriend Jesse Baird, and his partner Luke Davies, at Paddington, in Sydney’s east, in February 2024.
Police sources said they were aware of Lamarre-Condon’s offer and discussions he had had about potential media deals over the phone from prison.
“He is offering an interview with his mother, which can only occur on weekends, as that is when he (Lamarre-Condon) can join them via an AVL (audio visual link) from jail,” a source said.
Lamarre-Condon was a celebrity chaser before and even during his time as a police officer, taking selfies alongside some of the world’s biggest names like Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Kourtney Kardashian.
But it is understood he has been upset at his media portrayal while behind bars - including the use of a cartoonist’s drawing of him from a recent court appearance.
“He has been particularly upset by the media repeatedly using the court image of him,” a police source said.
“He just craves attention.”
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Lamarre-Condon’s mother.
The Daily Telegraph was recently approached by an intermediary of Lamarre-Condon with the offer of an interview or information, which was rebuffed.
Police sources said they had been approached by Lamarre-Condon’s legal team in recent months over claims he received help disposing of the bodies of Mr Davies and Mr Baird from a woman.
But they said it is “no longer a police matter” as the case was now with the Director of Public Prosecutions, however confirmed detectives were not pursuing anyone else as part of their investigations. She is not accused of any wrongdoing.
“We have interviewed that woman at length, she is an innocent party,” a senior source said.
Lamarre-Condon was sacked from the police force in March 2024, a month after he allegedly shot dead TV presenter Mr Baird and his Qantas flight attendant boyfriend Mr Davies inside the Paddington terrace.
He is accused of then putting their bodies into surfboard bags, before driving them down to a farm at Bungonia, outside Goulburn, where police allege he buried them in a shallow grave.
For the almost 16 months Lamarre-Condon has been on remand, he has been housed in a special wing of Long Bay Jail reserved for high-risk, or at-risk, inmates.
It is understood among those in the neighbouring cells are disgraced prison governor Wayne Astill, who is serving a maximum of 23 years, for sexually assaulting inmates during his time overseeing jails including Dilwynia Correctional Centre.
The decision to house Lamarre-Condon there is one made by Correctives Services NSW.
It means his days are reserved to being alone in a one-bed self-contained unit, the highlight of which is a kitchenette and yard access.
In a statement, a Corrective Services NSW spokesperson said they “cannot comment on the circumstances of individual inmates due to privacy legislation”, but largely do not facilitate interviews “between inmates and the media to prevent victims and their loved ones from being further traumatised”.
Lamarre-Condon is facing two counts of murder, and one charge of breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence, and is yet to enter any pleas.
He is next due back in the Downing Centre Local Court on June 17.
