‘High priority’: Sydney suburb set for a new ambulance station

The high-growth area has recently been rezoned to welcome thousands more residents in the coming years, and the new station will be one of 30 expected to be delivered across the state.

Sydney’s north-west is set for a new ambulance station, with a site in Macquarie Park announced on Friday.

Early planning is underway for the site on Khartoum Road and Tasman Place, with a builder not expected to be awarded a contract until mid-2026.

The rapidly growing area of Macquarie Park was rezoned in late 2024 as part of transit-oriented development, with capacity for 2000 more homes added to the area.

Premier Chris Minns said he was “pleased” the community was a step closer to a new ambulance station.

“Our essential services need to grow with the communities they serve, and with major transport and housing projects planned for Macquarie Park it’s a high priority location for out-of-hospital emergency medical care,” Mr Minns said.

The site was selected after mapping triple-0 calls to optimise response times in the area.

Ambulance station manager Andrew Wood welcomed the “new state-of-the-art” facility.

“Having an additional ambulance station, and with the rise in population, can only assist the current paramedic crews in the area,” he said.

The project comes as part of a $615.5 million Ambulance Infrastructure Program to deliver 30 additional stations across the state, including at North Sydney, Berowra, Carlingford and Moss Vale.
