A NSW couple is alleged to have threatened a mother, father and their baby with a gun in one of two carjackings during a six-hour crime spree in which they covered more than 250km.

Police allege Aiden Osborne, 33, and Krystal May Carr, 31, both from Dubbo, pointed the shortened firearm at a woman and two teenage girls in the second carjacking.

Officers claim the couple was travelling in a speeding vehicle on the Federal Highway near Goulburn on Saturday at about 4pm.

The Toyota HiLux had been reported stolen from Molong, near Orange in the Central West, on Friday.

NSW Police claim they were forced to abort the pursuit due to public safety concerns.

After a short pursuit where the driver refused to pull over, road spikes were laid across a road at Marulan about 30km east of Goulburn.

Despite the front tyre being blown out by the spikes the pair continued to Brayton Rd where they noticed a young family in a Ford Territory.

Police said the couple got out of the stolen car and produced a shortened firearm which they allegedly used to threaten the couple and their baby before taking their vehicle. They then headed north along the Hume Highway towards Sutton’s Forest where they crashed into a guard rail at a service station.

Police allege the couple then used the same firearm to carjack a woman who was in the company of two teenage girls before stealing her black Ford Focus. Any further pursuit by police was terminated fearing that it would put the public in danger.

The Ford Focus was later involved in a collision with three other cars on Narellan Road at Mount Annan just before 6pm but still the couple was able to leave the scene.

A major police operation, including the use of a police helicopter, was launched and the car was tracked to Irving St in Parramatta where a large number of police, including officers from the Public Order and Riot squad, arrested the couple and took possession of the firearm.

The couple was taken to Parramatta Police station where Osborne was charged with 10 offences.
