A drunk truckie who police allege blew almost five times the legal limit on a major Northern Rivers route has also been slapped with a negligent driving charge.
Self-represented Dallas Ryan Knox appeared before Magistrate Robert Munro in Grafton Local Court on Monday, charged with high range PCA (first offence) and negligent driving.
On April 29 at about 8.20pm, Coffs/Clarence Police were called to Big River Way at South Grafton after receiving reports about a truck swerving over the roadway.
Police at the scene allegedly witnessed a B-Double truck driving dangerously and directed it to stop, according to documents tendered to the court.
Knox, 32, was subjected to a roadside breath test which police allege returned a positive result - at 4.8 times the legal limit.
He was arrested and taken to Grafton Police Station where a secondary breath analysis returned a reading of 0.242.
Police suspended his driving licence pending the outcome of court proceedings.
He is due to reappear before the same court on July 21.
