He may have been one of the toughest on the field, but former Sharks and Storm lock Dale Finucane took to the stage at Thursday night’s TAB Everest Chairman’s Dinner at The Star Sydney to show off his vocal chords.
Retiring at the beginning of the 2024 NRL season, Finucane has used his time away from the sport to polish his naturally gifted acoustics, singing three songs while playing the guitar on stage at Thursday nights event.
CEO of Racing NSW, Peter V’landys discovered the former premiership winner’ s hidden talent at a recent Kangaroos reunion.
Finucane performed Tina Turner’s smash hit ‘Simply the Best’ as the memorial song on that day at the Sydney Cricket Ground, leading to V’landys hiring him for the Chairman’s Dinner.
“I think he’s a talent, a very talented singer and I wanted to give him the opportunity,” V’landys said.
Guests at Thursday night’s event will be treated to another performance on Saturday for the TAB Everest, with DJ Joel Corry to play a set after the last race concludes at Randwick Racecourse .
