An ARIA Award-winning drill rapper from Sydney’s south is preparing to fight a domestic violence assault charge, as his partner speaks out to dismiss the allegation as “completely false”.
Blake Turnell, 32 – known professionally as ChillinIt – was granted bail last week on charges of domestic violence assault and property damage.
He has pleaded guilty to the property damage charge, but will vigorously defend the assault charge with a hearing set for next month.
It is understood the allegation was made by a person previously not known to either party, who claimed to have witnessed the alleged incident on a night out.
The alleged victim in the matter is Turnell’s current partner Natasha Rayner, who on Friday took to social media to brand the claim as “completely false”.
“I want to make it very clear that the allegations against my partner are completely false, he has never hurt me or made me feel unsafe, not once,” Ms Rayner said
“The way he loves and protects me is something I hold so close to my heart, with him I feel protected, respected, and truly seen, please don’t believe everything you hear.”
Turnell’s longtime legal representative, high profile criminal solicitor Ahmed Dib, said his client “vigorously” denied the charge and stated he will “ultimately be acquitted”.
“These charges are vigorously denied and he will ultimately be acquitted,” Mr Dib said.
“He looks forward to that date, and being able to tell the world and show the world he certainly does not condone or act in that matter.”
An interim apprehended domestic violence order was put in place, ordering Turnell not to stalk, intimidate, assault or threaten Ms Rayner, nor damage any property or harm any animal in her possession.
Turnell will remain on bail and his matters will return to Sutherland Local Court on July 30.
