A 31-year-old man who forced his way into a social housing unit and intimidated a resident cried and put his head in his hands as he was refused bail in court.

Brayden Sense burst into the 62-year-old man’s home, allegedly alongside a co-offender.

Sense is accused of smashing windows using his scooter as the occupant hid inside and phoned for help on January 19 this year.

He faced Coffs Harbour District Court on Monday pleading guilty to destroying/damaging property, aggravated entering of a dwelling with intent in company and stalking/intimidating.

Police state in court documents the alleged co-offender was renting a room with his girlfriend at the Mission Australia social housing units on Azalea Ave at Coffs Harbour.

Sense was drinking with the co-accused man, who had allegedly been kicked out of the unit for falling behind in rent.

Sense went to the victim’s unit, allegedly with the co-accused, to search for the woman and the resident opened the door and quickly tried to shut it again.

Sense shoulder barged the door and shouted: “Open your f--king door. Where is she c-nt?”

The resident locked himself inside and phoned triple-0 while Sense smashed the windows, police state.

The girlfriend has not been accused of any wrongdoing

Sense’s defence lawyer argued bail could be granted with “onerous conditions”, including his client having to live with his father.

He suggested Sense could be ordered to abstain from alcohol and stay away from Coffs Harbour, apart from reporting to police.

The court heard Sense had “alcohol and aggression issues” and Judge Michael McHugh said the defendant had a “long record of continued breaches when he’s on bail”.

Sense’s defence lawyer said: “Although his record is not good, it is patchy.”

“In my view there’s still an unacceptable risk of committing offences on bail and I refuse the application,” Judge McHugh responded.

Sense, who faced the court over videolink from Kempsey Correctional Centre, wiped away tears as bail was refused.

He is due to return to the court for sentencing on February 21.
