An elderly man has died after suffering a medical episode while driving which led to a crash at a Port Stephens retirement village.

An elderly man has died after suffering a medical episode before crashing a car into a Port Stephens retirement village.
Police revealed the 73-year-old man died at Sunrise – Over 55s Lifestyle Community, Anna Bay, on Thursday about 11.15am when he went into cardiac arrest while driving.
As a result, his vehicle crashed into one of the northern Newcastle retirement village homes.
Officers were called to the scene and attempted to revive the man but, despite their best efforts, he died at the scene.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue and NSW Police said they were not treating the situation suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
