Tyrone Kollman: Fishing community, friends remember fatal crash victim

The fishing community has remembered keen young fisherman Tyrone Kollman after his death over the weekend.

THE fishing community are mourning the loss of a talented angler and young member in Tyrone Kollman.

The 20-year-old was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Dundee at the weekend.

Darwin’s Fishing and Outdoor World manager Ronald Voukolos said the “fishing fraternity” was “gutted” by the news of Tyrone’s death.

“It’s a big shock, it really hits hard,” he said.

“The fishing fraternity is such a close community so there's a real sense of disbelief.”

Mr Voukolos said he had known Tyrone since “he was around 12 or 13”, and his family had a lot to do with his father and grandfather.

“He was fishing mad — it was just his life.

“It was great to watch father and son (fish) and that love for the outdoors — Shady Camp was in trouble when the fish were biting,” he said.

Mr Voukolos said it was a shame that Tyrone’s life was cut short.

“We were just seeing what he was growing into, it’s a real shame.

“He was just finding his way in life — he was so young and had so much potential,” he said.

Mr Voukolos sympathised with all those who had lost a loved one in Tyrone.

“My heart goes out to his family, especially with the passing of young fellas that have just started their journey of life,” he said.

“It’s not fair that life continues to snuff out some bright lights.”

EARLIER: FRIENDS of a young angler who died in a single-vehicle crash near Dundee have remembered him as a kind-hearted and loving person.

Tributes flowed on social media for Tyrone Kollman, 20, who tragically passed away on Saturday.

Police were called to the accident along Fog Bay Rd near Dundee around 8.50pm.

“You’re the most kind hearted, craziest, loving friend & im forever grateful that I was lucky enough to create so many memories with you,” wrote Ellie-mae Black.

Josh Munday wrote: “Can’t believe it mate how young you were and what you had to look forward to.”

“You fished hard, you worked harder and contributed so much, it’s always those people that are taken first,” he wrote.

“Smiling always til the end mate, hope your in the land of boofing barra now.”
