A prominent Stuart Park gallery space has been listed for sale at $1.7 million, plus GST.

Songlines, situated at 55 Stuart Highway Stuart Park, shut its doors after almost four years at the end of last year, and has recently been listed for sale by LJ Hooker.

Located in Stuart Park’s so-called Golden Mile on the corner of Stuart Highway and Geranium Street, Songlines shares a block with the Buff Club and is across the road from Office Works and the Top End Medical Centre.

Built on 723sq m, the shop space is 588sq m and is zoned Service Commercial, including 19m of Stuart Highway frontage, 26m to Geranium St and 28.3 metres to Ramerez Rd.

The ground floor property has surrounding glass windows on the Stuart Highway and Geranium Street frontages as well as loading and carparking out back on Ramirez Rd.

Agent Lee Doyle highlighted the building’s versatility and its capacity to cater to a range of different operations.

“The building is versatile and could suit a broad range of businesses including office, retail or medical, subject to approvals.,” he said.

“The building includes open spaces in the customer display area including a multimedia room, office, storage and amenities.”

Before becoming Songlines, the premises was previously Provenance Arts and before that the famous Framed Gallery.

Songlines owner Felicity Wright said the building was versatile and provided plenty of options for potential tenants.

“It’s a very big space with different elements, audiovisual and events,” she told NT News last December.

She also praised building owner John Clark, who co-owned Framed, for his engagement as a landlord during tough economic times.

“The economic downturn has been really difficult, but our landlord, John Clark made it that much better,” she said. “He’s been so supportive of us in the ways that matter. He was very flexible.”

There is no shortage of Top End gallery space at the moment, with Art Warehouse on Daly Street closing last year and the Government announcing an expression of interest process for its State Square art gallery.
