Health Minister Natasha Fyles said that the travellers from ­Brisbane, Ipswich, Gladstone, Toowoomba and Byron Bay were already travelling on The Ghan in the NT when Greater Brisbane was plunged into a snap lockdown.

The passengers were forced to spend around half of their train journey in self isolation in their cabins.

“Now, it doesn’t matter whether you have arrived via rail, or via road, or via air, it is the time in which you enter the NT, that will dictate whether you have to isolate and get tested or go into mandatory quarantine,” Ms Fyles said.
