THE 76-year-old woman has been found by NT Police.
The woman was reported overdue from a hike at Heavy Tree Gap on Saturday.
A statement from NT Police said she is safe and well.
NT POLICE have begun an air and land search for an elderly woman who has gone missing while hiking in the Heavitree Gap area in Central Australia.
A statement issued by NT Police at 8pm said the 76-year-old Alice Springs woman had been walking with a friend at Mt Johns Ridge today when he had lost of sight of her about 2pm.
The man searched for her without success, before contacting police.
Police then launched an air search for the woman using a helicopter and a drone.
The overdue hiker is believed to be fit and healthy, but she was not carrying any water or food on her when she went missing.

Police have described her as caucasian with grey-blonde hair, green eyes and a very fair complexion.
She was last seen wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt over a pink shirt, yellow pants and a hat.
NT Police Watch Commander Vicki Koum said police had “immediately” begun searching for the woman once they heard she was overdue, and while there was still daylight, but they hadn’t yet located her.
“Given the freezing temperatures at night and the fact this woman has no provisions with her, we hold serious concerns for her welfare,” she said.
Police are urging anyone who was in the Heavitree Gap area from 9:30am today, or who has any information regarding the woman’s whereabouts, to contact police immediately on 131 444.
