NT Police searching for prisoner who escaped work detail in Alice Springs

A prisoner is on the run after escaping from his work detail in Alice Springs, with Territory police now on the hunt for him.
In a statement, police said the 28-year-old prisoner escaped from his work placement at the Olive Pink Botanical Gardens about 11.45am Thursday morning.
Police said they were notified of the escape at 1pm, and have been actively looking for him since.
The prisoner – whose name was not provided – was last seen wearing green pants and a yellow and blue shirt, police said.
Police said they “do not believe” the escaped prisoner is a risk to the public, but have urged the public not to approach him.
They have also urged the man to return himself to custody as soon as possible.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police on 131 444 and quote reference number P25063037 in relation to the escaped prisoner.
