NT hit and run: Police reveal silver hatchback who allegedly hit two motorcyclists was stolen

Updated, October 25, 10.10am: Police are continuing investigations after two motorcycle riders were left injured after being struck intentionally by a hatchback in Darwin.

In a statement on Friday, NT Police said investigators from Serious Crime confirmed the vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla hatchback, had in fact been stolen.

The vehicle displays NT registration HARYANV.

The hatchback was allegedly involved in two intentional hit and run incidents on Thursday morning.

The first was along McMinn St and the second occurred a short time later on Illife St in Woolner.

Police said the Woolner incident also included property offences.

Motorcycle riders targeted in Darwin hatchback hit and runs

Initial, October 24, 10.37am: NT Police are hunting for the occupants of a car they believe intentionally targeted two motorcyclists in back to back hit and runs in the Darwin city area.

Police say a “small silver hatchback” struck a motorcyclist on McMinn St in Darwin City about 6am on Thursday, before fleeing the scene.

The 30-year-old rider suffered serious grazing to his leg and was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

Police further allege the same silver hatchback struck another rider on Liffe St in Woolner a short time later.

This time the occupants allegedly attempted to rob the fallen rider, before they were confronted and again fled the scene.

The 43-year-old rider suffered minor grazing and was also taken to RDH for treatment.

As at Thursday morning, police said they had yet to find the vehicle and occupants.

Police said they believed the hit and runs were intentional.

“Anyone who witnessed the incidents, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to contact police and quote reference number P24293700,” a PFES statement said.
