NRL NT has cracked down on poor on and off field behaviour in 2024

The NRL NT has cracked down on poor behaviour in light of recent rule breaches from their community, with one incident resulting in a team manager being banned for a year.

The NRL NT has issued a warning that it will crack down on rule breakers after a recent run of indiscretions on and off the field from members of their community.

It comes after a team manager was suspended for 12 months for using offensive language, acting with aggression and excessively disputing referee’s decision.

It is understood their indiscretions took place after a scuffle broke out at the end of the game resulting in suspensions to the manager, four players and a spectator.

The incident wasn’t the first example of poor on-field behaviour this season with five senior players receiving send-offs and suspensions during a melee in the opening round of the season.

The Round 1 bust up resulted in the match between Nightcliff and Palmerston to be called off with a minute and a half still to be played, Raiders won 20-10.

NRL NT general manager Tony Crowe said enough was enough and that individuals who could not abide by the house rules were not welcome in the sport.

“At NRL NT Our House has rules, and as a peak sporting body we are committed to making rugby league in the NT famous for fun, safety and better communities,” Crowe said.

“If you cannot abide by our house rules you are not welcome.

“We are not the law or a judge, we are a sport that aims to bring people together for enjoyment and provide everyone the opportunity to be the best they can.

“Whether that be through participating in a team sports building lifetime friendships and teamwork behaviour that will benefit them long term.”
