GoFundMe set up for Darwin girl Jade McKenney after serious single vehicle collision
A 13-year-old Darwin girl is in a coma and fighting for life after a serious car crash. Now the community has rallied behind her, raising an incredible amount in just 24 hours for the young basketball player.

The NT community has rallied behind a young Darwin girl who is in an induced coma after being involved in a serious car crash last month.
Jade McKenney, 13, was left in a critical condition after the car she and another occupant were in collided with a tree along McMillans Rd near the intersection of Charles Eaton Dr.
The Jade, along with her mother, were flown to Adelaide where the young girl was placed in an induced coma and, despite initial prognosis, continues to fight bravely.
Her father flew down the following day to be by her side.
The Darwin community, particularly the basketball community where the McKenney family is well known, have rallied behind Jade since the incident.
Jade played for the Ansett Basketball Club, in both the Girls Under 14s and Under 16s divisions during the 2023 Championship season.
Friend Jillian Malseed, alongside other community members, has set up a GoFundMe to help support the family as they get Jade the best aid she can get.
The GoFundMe, titled Jade’s Journey, went live on Wednesday morning and had already gained more than $18,000 from 226 donations after eight hours.
“Jade’s continued strength and resilience has touched the hearts of everyone who knows her, doctors and nurses alike,” Ms Malseed wrote on the page.
“Together, we can help provide the financial support and encouragement Jade needs to overcome this challenging chapter in her life.
“Jade’s parents, brother and family have given their all during this challenging time, navigating the complexities of her medical journey, their unwavering love and dedication is truly remarkable.
“They have been a constant source of strength, comfort and inspiration. Remaining steadfast in their determination to provide her with all their love and the best possible care.
“As such, we have established a dedicated fundraising page to ensure that Jade receives the medical care she urgently requires.”
