Emergency services at scene of crash, man critical

CareFlight and other emergency services are attending a single vehicle crash along the Arnhem Highway in which a man is trapped in a car.

A 19-year-old man who trapped in a car after a single vehicle crash on the Arnhem Hwy is in a critical condition.

Police and St John Ambulance are in attendance and a CareFlight helicopter has arrived to transport the man to Royal Darwin Hospital.

He is in a critical condition in ICU.

A police spokeswoman said the man was being extracted by emergency services.

She said the vehicle rolled about 8am on the Arnhem Hwy west of South Alligator and came to a stop 20m off the road.

The spokeswoman asked motorists to pay attention in the area and follow the instructions of police as crew work to clear the scene.

The road is has reopened after it was closed earlier today to allow the CareFlight chopper to land and collect the man.
