Lake Alexander at East Point Reserve has again been closed temporarily due to elevated levels of bacteria detected during routine water quality monitoring.
The popular swimming spot was closed for a month when elevated levels of bacteria were detected in its waters in January.
Darwin city council said heavy rainfall and run-off into the lake has again temporarily reduced water quality.
It said that as the current quality of the water does not meet the levels required for swimming, the lake has been temporarily closed to swimmers and for other water activities while further testing is undertaken.
Council said the public will be advised when the lake is reopened, but until then, the public is urged to heed all signs while the water quality testing is being undertaken.
