Tiwi Bombers star Anthony Munkara has produced a special moment in the NTFL kicking what could well be a goal of the year contender for any league.
The former Essendon rookie has lit up the stage this season with his fair share of big hangers and goals on the run to aid Tiwi’s resurgence in season 2024-25.
But his most recent effort in the final quarter of the Bombers’ Round 7 match against Waratah might have been his best yet.
The Tahs had seized control of the contest with a run of five goals, but then a loose ball in the midfield fell to Munkara’s benefit.
The forward surged forward beating everyone out of the contest soccering it forth before picking it up upon entering his forward 50.
Noted defender Brodie Carroll was hot on heels the whole time, while Robby Bartee and Bailey Scott also tried to lay a tackle.
But some clever steps from Munkara, who actually played for Tahs himself last season, allowed him to evade the lot before booting boot to ball to goal and finish off the brilliant passage of play.
Commentators were quick to call it a goal of the year contender crediting Munkara’s individual brilliance and bag of tricks that caught his opposition completely by surprise.
Earlier in the piece he took a brilliant specky within a minute of a similar stunning effort from teammate Thaddeus Puautjimi.
