The Gunner Government will continue its pursuit of a National Aboriginal Art Gallery and National Indigenous Culture Centre in Alice Springs with $66.2 million allocated in the 2021-22 NT Budget.

The Budget also has $8.3 million for another stage of Kilgariff Estate. A further $16.1 million has been set aside for development of industrial land in Alice Springs including potential releases in Arumbera and Brewer Estate.

The multistorey hospital car park has $11.3 million with construction due to be completed by December.

Work will continue on the jointly funded $200 million Tanami Road project as will work on the Plenty Highway and Tjukaruru Road.

The Territory’s third largest region will see a new $5 million drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility delivered in 2021-22 for the Barkly Region Alcohol and Drug Abuse Advisory Group.

Construction starts mid this year and will be finished early next year.

The co-funded Barkly Regional Deal will see $9.5 million for the new Tennant Creek Visitor Park; $7.6 million for youth focused recreational infrastructure; $2.2 million for the Barkly Business Hub due to be completed in October; On going funding of $2 million per annum for the operation of the Barkly Youth Work Camp; and $1 million for resealing and line marking works at Lake Nash.

The 2021 Budget invests $10.1 million in the Katherine East neighbourhood area adjacent to the Katherine Research Farm.

Katherine Showgrounds will get $2.2 million for upgrades and Katherine sports ground $4.9 million. There is $4.5 million for the Katherine art gallery extension and $900,000 for Elsey and Mataranka thermal pool works.

Gove District Hospital has $11.3 million in 2021-22 for upgrades. Maningrida has $15.8 million for the construction of the new police station.
