Top End Pride has promised three NTFL clubs a cash donation in the wake of Encore Pilates’ sponsorship withdrawal.
The leading queer organisation in the Territory said the recent media coverage over the fallout of Pride Round footy matches in the NT demonstrated there was still ‘work to be done’.
“The recent media coverage of sponsorship withdrawals has shown that there is still important work to be done in creating environments of unity and respect,” the statement read.
“It’s disappointing to see organisations pull back their support based on phobia or exclusion, as this undermines the core values of equality and belonging that sport should champion. “These events have only strengthened our resolve to work even harder in advocating for our community and fostering inclusivity within sport and beyond.”
It will donate money to Waratah, PINT and Jabiru football clubs as a recognition of their efforts within the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Sport plays a vital role in promoting physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing,” the statement said.
“True wellbeing isn’t simply the absence of illness — it’s about the presence of positive connections, inclusivity, and a support network that allows everyone to thrive.
“In alignment with our commitment to these values, we are proud to provide a cash donation to the Waratah, PINT, and Jabiru Bombers clubs for their remarkable efforts in supporting visibility and inclusivity for the LGBTQIA+ community.
“These clubs have set an example of what true allyship looks like, and by strengthening our partnerships, we aim to help create spaces where everyone — regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity — feels welcome, celebrated, and respected.”
