Nominations open for 2024 Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards

Recognising the hard work and challenges faced by NT educators is key to retaining top teachers and bolster their mental health. Here’s how you can support your favourite teacher.

In the midst of teacher shortages and school-based violence across the NT, recognising the hard work of Territory teachers plays a key role in supporting educators’ mental health.

Nominations for the 2024 Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards are open across nine categories until May 24.

Education Minister Mark Monaghan said the awards were an opportunity to show “deep appreciation” for the NT’s educators.

Mr Monaghan said many teachers “fly under the radar in their efforts to better the lives of students”.

“Teachers make long lasting impressions on students – I’m sure most of us can remember our favourite teacher, someone who believed in us, inspired us and guided us, those are the types of teachers we want nominated to receive the recognition they deserve,” he said.

“Being a teacher is challenging and rewarding.

“These awards are incredibly important as they thank our hardworking teachers, principals, early childhood educators and support staff for their commitment to learning and delivering the very best education for young Territorians.”
