The CBD restaurant, where one menu covers two quite different dining rooms, is a standard bearer for the relaxed, egalitarian style of eating that seems to suit most occasions these days.

Quick steak frites for lunch? No worries. Pigging out on mid-afternoon pork buns? Fine. Did you say you like offal? Try the grilled tongue or the honey and anise sweetbreads. Something to celebrate? Relax in one of the plush booths upstairs.

Chef Andrew Davies and his team cope well with these demands, getting the best from the produce grown in their own Hills patch or by special arrangement with hand-picked graziers. They're also happy to muck in and tend the garden.

Only three months old, Press is an evolving project that looks set to star at these awards for some time.
