Trader Bar and Darwin Ski Club to hold 12-hour Oktoberfest
ONE of the world’s most iconic festivals won’t be held this year in its traditional home in Munich, but two Darwin venues are preparing for their take on Oktoberfest

DARWIN will be one of the few cities this year able to celebrate Oktoberfest unhindered, with organisers promising bier and pretzels will flow into the wee hours of the morning.
Both The Trader Bar and Darwin Ski Club have joined forced to hold a combined event on Saturday evening, with organiser Pippa Ainsworth saying it would provide lederhosen-clad Darwinites an authentic German experience.

“We’ve going to have German beer bar steins, a wine bar, a delicious German barbecue with bratwurst and locally baked pretzels,” Ms Ainsworth said.
Entry is free, with Ms Ainsworth said she wanted the festivities would be family-friendly.
“Over that period, we hope to see a lot of people,” she said.
“We’re pretty lucky to be able to do this.”
Festivities begin from 2pm with Ms Ainsworth saying they plan to keep going until 2am.

“We wanted to do the whole day, so that if people didn’t want to party, they can come and have yummy food at the beach with their kids or friends,” she said.
Live music will be performed by James Damien and Jigsaw Collective.
