Tom Gleeson scores Gold Logie nomination after quitting show
Comedian Tom Gleeson has scored a Gold Logie nomination just days after he announced he was quitting his popular show Hard Quiz, which is being discontinued after four series. But he’s not the only surprise in the mix for Australian television’s top gong.

ABC presenters Tom Gleeson and Costa Georgiadis, of Gardening Australia, have scored surprise Gold Logie nominations.
Other first time nominees are Sunrise’s Sam Mac and Neighbours actor Eve Morey.
It comes days after Gleeson announced he was quitting ABC’s Hard Quiz, which is being discontinued after four series.
They will vie for the honour at next month’s 61st TV Week Logie Awards against repeat nominees, Doctor Doctor actor Rodger Corser, Channel 10 presenter Amanda Keller, and The Project’s Waleed Aly.
Last year Grant Denyer was the surprise winner of the 60th Gold trophy, beating odds-on favourite Tracy Grimshaw, after Gleeson ran a campaign on his behalf.
On hosting duties, Channel 9’s Richard Wilkins and Studio 10’s Sarah Harris revealed the shortlist at the nominations event at the Gold Coast’s the Star Casino.
Australians had two months to vote in the “Most Popular” categories, including best actor and actress, and the award for most popular personality on Australian TV.
Live voting will re-open on June 24 until the ceremony on June 30, in what will be the second time the awards will take place on the Gold Coast.
This year an extra nominee has been added in each category as well as the new award of most popular television commercial.
