THE president of Darwin’s Ski Club has knocked back suggestions they should partner with Throb Nightclub for their new Throb on Point concept.

Ski Club president Paul Winter said “there will be no Throb-type set up whatsoever as proposed at East Point to occur at Ski Club.”

“If I allowed that to occur my members would certainly vote me out at the next AGM.”

It comes after Chief Minister Michael Gunner suggested Throb team up with an existing outdoor venue, like the Ski Club, after the initially proposed location at East Point was knocked back by the community.

Mr Winter said Throb doesn’t fit with the Ski Club’s current “relaxed environment.”

“The 4am doof as proposed at East Point – they said East Point was family-orientated, but if it’s open until 4am it’s not.”

He said Mr Gunner had not come to him with the proposal.

“I’ve not been approached by the Chief at all. He’s actually a member of the club so I thought he would have given us a call,” Mr Winter said.
