TERRITORIANS have enjoyed their first weekend back at the pub and camping in NT parks without time, meal and biosecurity restrictions.
Health Minister Natasha Fyles said while there was some overcrowding at parks, pubs and clubs behaviour was encouraging, but the risk of COVID-19 still existed.
“We did have some venues and some locations that did see overcrowding and it’s (about) encouraging Territorians to plan ahead to perhaps book if you can, or have an alternate plan if you do head out somewhere and there’s no car parks,” she said.
“We now need to just continue those principles around physical distancing hand hygiene and if you’re not feeling well to stay at home.”

Ms Fyles said testing would be maintained to ensure vulnerable communities didn’t succumb to the risk of coronavirus.
“We saw over 1200 tests conducted last week in the Northern Territory, and this will increase from next week when we see people being able to quarantine at a location or their home, and they will have to undergo a test in that first 72 hours, and the last 72 hours,” she said.

“We still need to not become complacent of coronavirus with over 7 million diagnosed cases around the world and 400,000 deaths, tragically.”
