A 17-YEAR-OLD was allegedly apprehended with an axe following a brawl between youths in the Palmerston CBD overnight.
Northern Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said police are investigating a series of disturbances in Palmerston on Friday night.
“Police initially received reports at about 7.50pm yesterday of a group of youths fighting in the Palmerston CBD,” she said.
“Police located a 17-year-old male, who had been in possession of an axe, who was taken into custody and later referred for Youth Diversion.
“Police also received reports of two separate disturbances in Driver at 9.10pm and 10.30pm, with the second resulting in a 25-year-old male being arrested for going armed in public after being found in possession of a hammer.
“Police received a further report just after midnight that two youths had been threatened with weapons and had property stolen in Gray.
“It is not yet known if these incidents are related.”
