Mystery Powerball winner pockets $9.8M

Three lucky Australians are preparing to enter the new year as multi-millionaires after winning a share in a $100 million lotto jackpot.

Two of the division one winning entries were from New South Wales, and one was from Queensland in Powerball draw 1389, drawn Thursday, December 29.

Each of the entries takes home a mammoth division one prize of $33,333,333.34.

The two New South Wales entries were sold online, while the Queensland entry was bought at Nextra Forest Lake News at Forest Lake Village Shopping Centre.

One winner, a woman from Durack in Queensland, bought herself the ticket as a Christmas present.

“I just jumped to the roof and screamed!. The kids thought a cockroach was in the kitchen,” she said.

“I bought this ticket for myself for Christmas. Thank you so much. That’s a bit of coin.

“This will definitely change our lives. This will not only help my family, but also help us move forward with a better life.”

And in a wild move, the mum said she would keep working despite the huge win.

“This is going to help ease the pressure, but I’ll keep working as I love it.

“This is an amazing end to the year. It’s the best ever. Dreams really do come true.”

Another shocked winner said the pay out had “changed (his) family’s life in the space of five minutes”.

“This has completely changed my family’s life in the space of five minutes. I don’t even know where to begin.

“Am I dreaming? I need to pinch myself to make sure this is real.”

The man went on to say buying a ticket for the particular draw was done so on a whim.

“I am absolutely speechless. We only play from time to time. In fact, we play Powerball very rarely,” he said.

“My wife said, ‘why not, let’s buy a ticket in the draw!’ I’m so glad we did.”

There were also 3,115,707 prizes worth more than $56.5 million won in divisions two to nine in Thursday’s Powerball draw.

Among these prizes were 33 division two wins each worth $47,444.20.
