Spectacular lightning storm lights up the Darwin skies, as 2600 strikes hit the city
TERRITORIANS were treated to another spectacular lightning storm off the Darwin coast on Saturday night, as La Nina conditions continue to create one of the most memorable wet seasons in recent memory.

THE wet season has certainly delivered some spectacular storms so far, and there will be more of nature’s light shows to come.
Territorians were treated to another lightning storm off the Darwin coast on Saturday night, with La Nina conditions creating one of the most memorable wet seasons in recent memory.
A bureau of meteorology spokeswoman said about 2600 strikes had hit Darwin, although she said La Nina was so far not necessarily impacting the amount or power of this season’s thunderstorms.
“Most of the lightning was around Darwin Harbour and the Cox Peninsula,” the spokeswoman said.
“The total lightning strikes from that particular storm was about 2600. That’s pretty normal for Darwin.”
