SHOCKING new footage has emerged of a brutal fight that broke out after a man allegedly drove a car at a group of people and smashed into a popular Darwin CBD pub yesterday.

New witness footage shows a male pedestrian violently punching the driver of a Toyota LandCruiser after he allegedly drove at a group of pedestrians, striking a man and slammed into Six Tanks Brew Co at about 3am on Sunday.

The video shows the 38-year-old driver being repeatedly struck in the head by a male pedestrian after the frightening crash before he was eventually pulled away by another man.

Pedestrians on the scene were visibly distraught during the aftermath of the crash, including one woman shown on the video screaming at the driver: “That piece of s***!”

Another witness can be heard yelling: “Get the driver out! He hit ‘em! He did it!”

NT Police serious crime squad Senior Constable Richard Musgrave said police were investigating allegations the driver of the car had been assaulted by members of the group of pedestrians prior to the horrific incident.

Charges were yet to be laid on Sunday due to the “large” nature of the investigation.
