Scott Morrison backs Peter Dutton in war of words
THE PM says he supports Peter Dutton's stoush with Roman Quaedvlieg as he slams the former Border Force boss for his "character sledge".
PRIME Minister Scott Morrison says he supports Peter Dutton in his war of words with Roman Quaedvlieg, describing the former Border Force boss's claims as false.
Mr Morrison told the ABC's 7.30 he was "disappointed" in Mr Quaedvlieg for his character sledge of Mr Dutton.
Earlier, Mr Dutton accused Roman Quaedvlieg of having "groomed" his 22-year-old girlfriend. It came amid claims Mr Dutton allegedly lobbied Mr Quaedvlieg to help two policemen get jobs, and helped prevent a third au pair from being deported.
One of the policemen is a good friend of the Minister's and another is the son of corrupt former Queensland police commissioner Terry Lewis, Fairfax Media reports.
Mr Dutton has not denied the intervention but rejected any suggestion of misbehaviour.
“Any suggestion that the minister has acted inappropriately is ridiculous ... Mr Quaedvlieg is a disenchanted individual who is bitter about his termination from the role of ABF commissioner,” his spokesperson said.
