Residents find cheeky 1.4m croc at popular Rapid Creek fishing spot

RESIDENTS were surprised to stumble upon a 1.44m crocodile near a popular Darwin fishing spot on Tuesday, prompting warnings from wildlife rangers to remain Crocwise.

RESIDENTS were surprised to stumble upon a 1.44m crocodile near a popular Darwin fishing spot on Tuesday, prompting warnings from wildlife rangers to remain Crocwise.

A spokeswoman from Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife said a member of the public had spotted the crocodile in Rapid Creek and informed their croc management unit.

“A trap was installed in Rapid Creek and the 1.44m saltie was removed (Tuesday) morning,” she said.

“We encourage the public to report croc sightings with as much information as possible – photographs and exact locations can prove invaluable.

“This is also a timely reminder that crocs can be found in any water way and to always Be Crocwise.”
