Reds player charged with assaulting police

LEGAL counsel for Queensland Reds recruit Scott Higginbotham has told a court there is video footage in the case which is “quite telling”.

Higginbotham was excused from appearing at a brief mention in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

He is facing one count of assault police and another of being found in a police establishment without a lawful excuse, stemming from an incident in Fortitude Valley on February 5.

“Your Honour, we’ve had some discussions, and there are ongoing discussions required with my friends,” legal counsel Angelo Venardos told the court.

“There is some video footage which is quite telling in this matter and we’ve agreed to a case conference...”

The case has been adjourned to March 22.
