After days of making public social media appeals for information on his missing brother Zachary, Sheridan told followers he would travel to Nepal to find his youngest sibling.
The Never Tear Us Apart actor was in the air flying to Kathmandu - ravaged by a 7.8 Richter scale earthquake - when news broke that his brother was safe in a village near the Everest base camp.
Sheridan, who described his journey to Nepal as “very long”, told The Daily Telegraph he was relieved about his news his brother was alive but wanted to reunite with him and take him home.
Zachary went missing near Mt Everest over the weekend where fatal landslides have left dozens dead. Sheridan and his family had been in contact with Australian government officials and local fixers to help organise a helicopter to take the actor to the base of Mt Everest to begin the search for his brother.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal the Sheridan family, with the assistance of Channel 7, had been attempting to hire a helicopter so the actor could reunite with his brother.
Helicopters in Nepal are near impossible to hire as the government has commandeered them to run humanitarian missions since Saturday’s devastating quake.
It’s expected Zachary will be airlifted from the Everest Base town to Kathmandu in the coming days, as it is the only form of transport to reach the remote area in Nepal.
World Vision chief Tim Costello told The Daily Telegraph Mr Sheridan was an “ambassador” and had contacted them about his plans.
