A NORTHERN Territory police officer has been arrested for high range drink driving in Alice Springs over the weekend.

On Saturday, April 25, a 53-year old off duty police officer was arrested for drink driving.

He was subsequently charged with a High Range Drink Driving offence and will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on July 7, 2020.

The officer has been suspended from duty on pay while the Professional Standards Command conduct an investigation into the incident.

A spokesperson from NT PFES said no further information will be provided because the matter is before court.
