A 75-year-old man was charged with murder today following the “violent” death of a man in Cabramatta West last night.
Emergency services were called to Sydney Luker Rd at around 8.45pm last night after reports a man was hit by a car.
It’s alleged the driver deliberately hit the man with a car before getting out and repeatedly striking him with an axe.
Officers found the 59-year-old man with a head wound on the street and he died at the scene.
Police say the two men were known to each other and allege the older man attacked the younger man with an axe during a fight.
Officers seized the axe and arrested the 75-year-old, who was taken to hospital for an unrelated medical condition.

The crime scene was “quite confronting” for police and others on the street, Acting Inspector Mitch Corfield said.
“It was a violent attack,” Insp Corfield told reporters in Sydney on Friday.
“I will say that they are known to each other...the parties are known to police.”
A resident, who witnessed the incident out the front of his home, said he saw the 75-year-old and held him while waiting for police.
The man has been released from hospital and taken back into custody at Liverpool Station.
He is due at Liverpool Court this afternoon.
