‘Lost NZ boy’ faces deportation after Tablelands home invasion

This one time Bandido awaits deportation for a Tablelands home invasion and leaves three kids in Cairns without their dad

Bikies in Australia: A short history

‘LOST NZ boy’ and former bikie Emil Tangaroa was whisked from custody the day he was paroled - he now awaits deportation to New Zealand leaving his three children in Cairns without their dad.

Tangaroa is no angel - the one time Bandido was jailed for three years for his part in an Atherton home invasion.

An anonymous source told the Cairns Post the invasion was also part vigilante justice against a drug dealer.

“The dealer was selling drugs to children - that was why Emil was there,” the source said.

“The drug dealer’s kid was selling drugs to kids in school.”

Tangaroa was released on parole this week but was not able to set foot outside prison and see his children - 2, 8 and 20 years old.

Border Force officers were waiting to take the NZ national into custody and flew him to Brisbane where he remains in detention.

“He hasn’t been given a chance to get legal help,” the source said.

“His children haven’t had a chance to be around their dad a lot and they really miss him.

“This will impact them.”

As for his ties with the Bandido, the source said the club attracted young men from broken homes.

“He was a lost NZ boy,” the source said.

“They all came from broken homes - it was a brotherhood of belonging.

“When you come from a broken home, you don’t belong anywhere.”

A Border Force spokesman said the agency would not comment on individual cases.

“Section 501 of the Migration Act 1958 (the Act) enables the department to refuse to grant, or to cancel, a visa on the basis that the person does not pass the character test,” the spokesman said.

“The person may apply to the Minister for revocation of the visa cancellation decision within certain time frames.”
Character provisions of the act can be found at the Department of Home Affairs

Emil’s prospects over the Tasman are not bright.

“He doesn’t really have a place in NZ,” the source said.
