Jordan Ablett will take on an ambassador role with the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal after seeing its importance first hand with her son Levi.

Two year-old Levi, son of Jordan and ex Geelong star Gary Ablett, has been treated at the hospital since being diagnosed with a rare degenerative disease last year.

Jordan revealed some never before pictures of Levi in the hospital while announcing her support of the Appeal.

“I’m so honoured to be working with the Good Friday Appeal as an Ambassador in their momentous 90th year of giving for the kids,’’ Jordan wrote on Instagram.

“My family and I have experienced first hand how important the @goodfridayappeal is to ensuring @rchmelbourne can continue to provide world class care to our beautiful children.

“Having seen Levi be cared for and loved on by such incredible doctors, nurses and hospital staff, this Appeal holds an extra special place in my heart.”

Jordan urged people to donate to the Appeal and she will work with the Hospital to raise awareness across the state.

“Yesterday launched the 2021 Good Friday Appeal with donations now open from now until Good Friday on April 2nd,’’ she wrote.

“I encourage you to give for the kids as any donation, no matter the amount, represents crucial funds that enable the life saving work of The Royal Children’s Hospital.

“I am excited to work alongside the #goodfridayappeal, The Royal Children’s Hospital and the wider Victorian community to raise awareness and funds for this iconic Appeal.”

Jordan and Gary have shared their son’s journey since the diagnosis was revealed in July last year.

Since Gary retired at the end of last season their priority has been spending time with family.

Jordan said recently that Levi had become a shining light for others.

“We know Levi is a light in this world which is why we chose to put aside our fears of being active on social media and instead focus on the kind of impact that we know Levi’s life can have on others,’’ she wrote on Instagram.

“We don’t ever want to hide his light from the world but instead, we want to let him shine brightly in the hope that someone else’s life will (through him) become much brighter. Our little superstar!”

In January on Levi’s second birthday, Gary shared a touching tribute that being a dad was a joy and had taught him many life lessons.

“How great it is to be your Dad,’’ Gary wrote.

“You’ve only been in this world for 2 young years and yet you’ve already taught us many lessons that often take a lifetime to learn. From showing us how joy can be found in the little things to how when challenges arise we can overcome them with bravery and a big smile.”
