NEIGHBOURS say a hoon was allegedly doing burnouts on their street before crashing into the fence of a residential property in Palmerston.
Northern Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said a 26-year-old man was lucky to escape without any injuries after driving into a residential fence in Woodroofe on Friday night.
One resident on Woodroffe Ave, who did not wish to be named, said she had seen the car allegedly “hooning” down her street shortly before the crash occurred at about 11pm.
Cdr Tennosaar said police were still investigating the incident but alcohol is believed to be a factor.
“Police received multiple reports at around 11.15pm last night that the male had been conducting burnouts in the street and lost control of the vehicle, colliding heavily with a fence of a residential premises,” she said.
“The male was transported to Royal Darwin hospital where a blood sample was taken.
“He will be issued a notice to appear in court at a later date.”
