Cats star Tom Stewart and his wife Emma have announced the arrival of their first child.
The two-time All-Australian defender heralded the arrival of the boy to his 25,000 Instagram followers on Sunday morning.
“Arthur George. 10.05pm on Thursday October 29th. Incredibly proud and so in love. Mum is filling the role of supermum with ease! Can’t wait to watch you grow little man,” Stewart posted.
Stewart and his partner adjusted their plans so the baby would be born in Queensland after Geelong made its way through to last week’s grand final in the Sunshine State.
Speaking before the game, the reliable defender said the 2020 season had presented many challenges, but the pending arrival of his first child put those issues in perspective.

“It’s exciting, Emma and I just went for a walk (on Sunday) and we were just discussing the year and the way is has unfolded and obviously it has had its challenges and its moments where it has been super difficult but it’s a happy and enjoyable time regardless of the result,” he said.
“If we win, it’s going to be an amazing achievement but if things don’t go our way I still have a child to look forward to and my family is growing by one so I am really embracing that and I am thankful I get the opportunity to represent the footy club in a Grand Final.”
