AN analysis of Google search data has revealed the top five issues voters are searching for, and which leader Australians want to know more about.
The data, provided by Google Australia/NZ to News Corp Australia, has revealed that in almost every state except Victoria, more people have been searching for information on Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull compared to Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.
In the Google map below, scrolling over each state reveals that since May 9:
*In New South Wales, Mr Turnbull attracted 52 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 48 per cent.
*In Queensland, Mr Turnbull attracted 55 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 45 per cent.
*In South Australia, Mr Turnbull attracted 53 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 47 per cent.
*In WA, Mr Turnbull attracted 55 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 45 per cent.
*In the Northen Territory, Mr Turnbull attracted 64 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 36 per cent.
*In Tasmania, Mr Turnbull attracted 53 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 47 per cent.
*In Victoria, Mr Shorten was ahead, attracting 51 per cent of Google search interest compared to Mr Shorten with 49 per cent.
In Google’s Federal Election ‘horse race’ data, the top five issues with the highest volumes of search traffic since the election was first called include:
1. National Broadband Network
2. Immigration
3. Superannuation
4. Climate Change
5. Same-sex marriage
The two data charts below show interest in these topics has increased, decreased and wavered over the entire election period.
