Going against the election polls, Eva the democracy sausage dog has chosen the underdog for the candidate for Mayo.
Our democracy sausage dog, who famously predicted last year’s premier Steven Marshall, was tasked with selecting Mayo’s potential winner by choosing from two bowls with a single sausage in each, and a photo representing candidates Rebekha Sharkie and Georgina Downer.
Despite polling tipping otherwise, Eva picked Ms Downer, the Liberal candidate as the wiener in Mayo.
The Advertiser’s YouGov / Galaxy poll results from Monday revealed a result almost identical to last year’s Mayo results placing Rebekha Sharkie as preferred candidate by more than half of contributing voters.
Isaac Seymour, 19, is a local resident from Piccadilly in Mayo, who would like to see more employment opportunities in South Australia for local youth, particularly in the Adelaide Hills.
“I found it quite difficult to find a job, it took me like six months,” said Mr Seymour.
Celia Voivodich, 29 has recently moved back to South Australia after working overseas and is about to begin studying International development at university.
Miss Vocodich wants this federal election to make supporting university students high on the political agenda.
“I’d just love to see the uni students having a fair go while they’re in uni, just so they can work and study at the same time, and just better funding for them just for when they finish University,” she said.
