Entertainment industry icons John ‘Strop’ Cornell and his wife, Delvene Delaney, who were Paul Hogan’s sidekicks in their comedic heyday, are selling the final land from their formerly vast Belongil Beach compound.
“With no continuing business interests in Byron Bay, we are releasing our remaining real estate holdings there for others to enjoy,” Delaney told The Daily Telegraph.
The couple sold the main holding four years ago to Harvey Norman heir Glen Norman for $10 million, the highest sale that year in the Northern NSW tourist hotspot.
The home, completely rebuilt since purchase in 2015, is a luxury verified Airbnb rental, fetching $5500 a night, dubbed White Hawk Retreat.
Cornell and Delaney, who live in the hinterland, are selling their final vacant slice of their one-time 2.3 acre beachfront compound, which was bought from the property developer Peter Kurts in 1987 for $375,000.

The three lots — totalling 2,089sqm — have been listed through LJ Hooker Byron Bay agent Glen Irwin, who is taking expressions of interest until October 28.
Belongil Beach has seen celebrity buying activity over recent years, though not to the same extent as Wategos Beach.
Celebrity chef Shannon Bennett has moved into his six-bedroom, six-bathroom home on Belongil, which comes with rooftop garden, sunset bar and natural pool. The Block judge Shelley Craft and real estate agent husband Christian Sergiacomi will move in following the $4.9 million sale of their home in town this year to the fund manager Peter Cooper.
They’re currently building a Paul Ulmann-designed five-bedroom home after paying $1.35 million for a block of land in 2017. It is inland on the Belongil peninsula, close to where the couple tied the knot a decade ago.
The top sale at Byron was earlier this year on Wategos. Eli Havas, wife of F45 founder Adam Gilchrist, paid $18.85 million for the longtime Marine Parade record holder. It had belonged to property developer Danny Goldberg, who paid $15.68 million some 13 years ago.
FORMER SOCCEROO LISTS LINDFIELD PROJECT
Former Socceroo turned property developer Jason Culina and his interior designer wife Terri are selling a Lindfield project they haven’t quite got around to fully doing.
They’re listing the property, which they bought for $2.35 million last year, along with plans for a modern five-bedroom home with a pool, cabanas — and even a soccer field.
A five-bedroom 1920s home currently sits on the 1355sqm parcel of land.
Stone Real Estate Lindfield agent Steven Kourdis has a guide of $2.5 million for the October 25 auction.
Culina (pictured), who played 58 games for the Socceroos including the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, has previously carried out a couple of projects in Putney.
Jason and Terri renovated their 200-year-old colonial mansion Denham Court in 2012, having paid $1.2 million, and selling two years later for $1,725,000.
The proceeds took them to Putney, where they spent $1.77 million on a Victorian-style, five-bedroom home. They renovated it and sold it for $3.48 million in 2017.
Culina began his football career at Sydney United under his father Branko Culina, then spent nine years in Europe before returning to Australia. After retiring in 2013, he and Terri founded property staging and styling website 80 Spaces, then the Culina Design Group.
LUCKED IN
Having recently upsized, interior design consultant Shannon Vos and wife Lisa have offloaded their Cronulla apartment.
Before winning The Block Glasshouse in Prahran in 2014 with his brother Simon, Vos said he wanted to win the hit renovation show so he and Lisa could buy a “love nest” by the beach.
They did so, paying $750,000 for a two-level apartment in 2015.
They have now sold it for $895,000. The couple, now with sons Dusty Mac and Raffa, have spent $1,285,000 on a mid-1980s four-bedroom home nearby.
They plan to upgrade it to suit their young family.
LOOSE LIPS
Commonwealth Bank executive George Confos, who looks after business and corporate finance, and his wife Shelley have bought in Darling Point.
They purchased the $6.8 million three-level home of Steve Duchen and his wife Polly, who extensively renovated it after paying $4.55 million in 2013.
The Duchens bought it from former Sydney Turf Club and Racing NSW chairman Alan Brown and wife Belinda.
Duchen has purchased an Omnia penthouse at Kings Cross for $15.8 million.
George and Shelley Confos sold up in Bellevue Hill this year for $7.3 million.

Saul Shtein, the departing head of sport at Channel 7, and his wife Deborah, have sold in Castle Cove for $3.35 million.
The couple have spent $3.25 million on a whole floor, three-bedroom garden apartment through estate agent Paul Biller. The settlement and downsizing to Rose Bay came the same week Shtein lost his job through redundancy.
The Shteins had been at their Castle Cove residence for two decades, having paid $1,225,000 for a 1930s home in 1999. Stein brought MTV to Australia but is best known as Seven’s head of sport for 15 years.
