In NSW, the winter months have obviously left our carpets in need of a spruce up, with requests for carpet services almost doubling (41 per cent). General cleaning, which can include many weird and wacky requests, has also surged by 16 per cent.

Baby Boomers and the older generation are leading the charge, commissioning an average of three cleaning jobs a year, while Millennials and the younger generation average two.

Rosio Badolato, from Hands On Cleaning in Sydney, said October and November was their busiest period of the year by far.

“Spring cleaning is one our most popular services,” she said.

“People want things done before December, especially as the Christmas and holiday season approaches.”

Hipages chief customer officer Stuart Tucker said quality cleaners can be hard to find in busy periods such as spring.

“This is when technology can help consumers to quickly find a quality, professional cleaner,” he said.
