Myer will reopen its first Adelaide store for face-to-face trade this weekend.
The retail giant’s Tea Tree Plaza outlet at Modbury is among a further eight stores – including outlets in WA and NSW – to be opened on a trial basis this Saturday amid an easing of coronavirus restrictions.
The company also has SA stores in Rundle Mall and Marion. The Rundle Mall store will continue to operate a click-and-collect service.
Myer closed its 60 stores nationwide on March 29 standing down 10,000 staff.
The company is reopening stores on a staged basis taking into account government COVID response measures.
“We look forward to welcoming more team members back to work and more customers to their favourite department store, where we have taken extra precautions to ensure Myer has a safe and hygienic shopping environment for all,” a Myer spokesman said.
The announcement came a day after Premier Investments, the company owning brands such as Smiggle, Portmans, Jay Jays and Just Jeans, announced a nationwide reopening of its stores, including more than 50 in SA.
Dozens of Rundle Mall retailers have been gradually restarting trading this month amid SA’s strong record in controlling COVID-19 infections.
