Marlin Coast striker banks on goals for Headspace fundraiser

Jeffrey Lassche will be the new man leading Marlin Coast at striker when the FNQ Premier League kicks off.
Lassche featured at centre forward in the club’s friendlies before the coronavirus shutdown, and while he’s played in the midfield for most of his young career it looked like a comfortable shift.

He’ll get his first chance to line up in the all-important role in a competitive fixture when Marlin Coast hosts Innisfail United on Saturday night.
The match doubles as the first game in which Lassche is backing himself to raise money for Headspace.
Lassche is putting in $50 for every goal he scores this season, which will be matched by the club, with every cent going to the mental health group, and he remains in talks with other sponsors about similar pledges.

“Mental health is a massive thing, and especially with coronavirus at the moment,” Lassche said.
“You see a lot of things happen around town that shouldn’t happen, a lot of people not speaking up. I’ve had history with mental health in the family as well.

“So I thought (it was important to) get it out there and promote it to the juniors, in my role as a Premier League player, just letting them know there’s nothing wrong with speaking up.”
Headspace jumped at the partnership, and will have a presence at most of Marlin Coast home games.
Marlin Coast have been hammered by key personnel changes in the off-season, as coach Mikhail Clement looks to steer the Rangers back to the finals after a losing grand final appearance last year.
