A man has been found unconscious after being shot in the buttocks.

Just before 1.30pm on Saturday, emergency services attended an address at Railway Estate in Townsville after reports of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The 38-year-old South Townsville man was found unconscious with a gunshot wound to his buttocks.

He was taken to the Townsville University Hospital in a serious condition.

Officers from the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the circumstances.

Queensland Police are appealing to anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the vicinity of Perkins street between midnight and 1.30pm on Saturday to come forward.

The address has been declared a crime scene.
