A well-earned rest will be the reward for Let’s Go Bobby after the star six-year-old took her North Queensland Winter Racing Carnival winnings past $70,000 with another win on Cairns Newmarket Race Day.

The impressive mare, trained by Townsville husband-and-wife duo Georgie and Aidan Holt, made a mess of her rivals in the $50,000 Belle of the Daintree Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap (1500m) feature at Cannon Park on Saturday.

Let’s Go Bobby rolled to the front and kicked clear leading into the straight to bring up her third win this preparation, romping home by four lengths under jockey Carl Spry.

The Mahisara mare put up her first win in the Benchmark 65 Handicap (1300m) at Mackay on July 3, before taking out the $50,000 Belle of Whitsunday Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap (1560m) three weeks later.

After back-to-back thirds in the Ladies Bracelet Fillies and Mares Class 6 Handicap (1300m) and Belle of the Burdekin Fillies and Mares Benchmark 70 Handicap (1400m), both at Cluden Park, Let’s Go Bobby bounced back with a big win at Cairns.

She will now take a well-earned break, having collecting $70,975 in prize money from her past five starts.

“She’s had a few tough runs this prep and travelled up from the Sunny Coast as well, so she’ll go to the paddock for a break now,” Aidan said.

Raced by prominent New Zealand owner Terry Lines, Let’s Go Bobby was previously with trainer Paul Jenkins on the Sunshine Coast, before arriving at the Holts’ Townsville stables two months ago.

“He (Lines) thought a change of climate from the Sunny Coast up to here would do her a world of good, and it’s brought her on,” Aidan said.

“He owns the whole horse himself and has been a big supporter of the stable of late.

“He lives over in New Zealand, so he’ll be having a little party for himself over there.”
