An Alleged Descendants bikie and his son are behind bars after a loaded pistol disguised as a Christmas present was found at their Modbury North home.
On Saturday police attended the house to serve Mark Barford, 56, who police allege is a full member of the Descendants motorcycle gang with a firearms prohibition order.
Police rang his mobile and recorded a conversation Mark Barford had after answering the call.
Officers will allege they heard the man giving orders to his son Adam, 18, to remove a black and gold package from under the Christmas tree and hide it in the S-bend of the toilet.
When police from the Crime Gangs Task Force raided the house a short time later, they found Adam Barford in the bathroom holding his phone in one hand and the package in the other.
Inside the package was a loaded .22 calibre revolver.
Mark Barford was arrested as he arrived back at the house.
Officers also located 67g of methylamphetamine, ammunition, an expandable baton and crossbow hidden at the house.
Both men were arrested and charged with drug and firearm offences.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday Nick Vadasz applied for bail for both men.
He said Adam Barford “acted with urgency because the request from his father was urgent”.
Nick Vadasz argued that both father and son had been affected by an incident earlier in the year which left both needing continuing medical treatment.
Magistrate David McLeod heard Adam Barford had been seriously injured in a crash in the Northern Territory earlier this year.
While riding a motorbike he hit a cow before falling down an embankment.
Riding a short distance behind his son, Mark Barford witnessed the crash and initially thought he had watched his son die.
While climbing down the slope he damaged his knee and also had to be flown to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.
Mr McLeod ordered a home detention report for Adam Barford but remanded Mark Barford in custody until March, 2020.
